Serving the Lake Highlands community since 1969

About Us

Who We Are
The Lake Highlands Women's League has been serving the Lake Highlands community since 1969. We currently have 100 active members and over 200 sustaining members. During the years the Lake Highlands Women's League has raised and distributed an impressive amount of money to some very worthy causes. The accumulated total of funds donated in college scholarships to Lake Highland seniors is over $1,687,000.00. The funds disbursed to other community organizations, school and capital projects is over $830,000.00, making our grand total of funds distributed over the last 46 years over $2,517,000.00! We are proud of our organization and the contribution we have made to the Lake Highlands community.

Who is Eligible to be a Member

Our membership is open to women who live within the Lake Highlands High School attendance boundaries as defined by the RISD. All prospective members must be sponsored by an active member of Lake Highlands Women's League.

What We Do in the Neighborhood

Our membership is committed to volunteerism and meeting the needs of our community. Each active member volunteers at least four times per year at one or more of our many service projects provided each year, returning over 800 service hours to our neighborhood. These opportunities range from mentoring/tutoring students in area schools to providing lunch and entertainment to volunteering in a free clinic to shelving books at the neighborhood school library.

The entire membership is involved in our home tour, luncheon and holiday market which is held the first Friday in December.  This is our only fundraiser, kickoff to the holiday season and a wonderful neighborhood event.  Last year, approximately $180,000 was disbursed from Lake Highlands Women’s League to community projects, area schools and scholarships for Lake Highlands High School students.  For more information about the Holiday in the Highlands home tour, click on "Holiday Home Tour".
